German Advanced Conversation (C1)

This course is a continuation from German Advanced Conversation (B2-C1) and is for students who feel at ease expressing themselves in German and wish to extend and maintain their competency for business, travel or everyday use with approximately 500+ hours of German required. Students will have the opportunity to focus on specific skills, such as extending vocabulary in given areas, improving written language, developing a better understanding of particular cultural and social issues in the target language. The whole class is conducted in German with conversation as the focal point. This course aims to build general advanced comprehension and communication skills in German and a review of cultural practices, with a focus on clear explanation of higher level language principles.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of this course, students should be able to:

  1. Understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts, and recognise implicit meaning.
  2. Express him/herself fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions.
  3. Use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes.
  4. Produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, showing controlled use of organisational patterns, connectors and cohesive devices.

LANGUAGE CLASS TRANSFER POLICY

If you are a new WEA Student and enrol into a language class and subsequently find that you are at the wrong level (whether too high or too low), you are permitted to transfer into another more suitable class at no additional cost, provided that the request is made within the first two classes and is in writing from your tutor directly to the Education Manager. After that point, an administration fee of $30 will apply.
