Intermediate Drawing

Drawing can be an intriguing way of passing time or a major obsession and way of life. Develop and expand on your skills in a variety of techniques and media such as pastel, charcoal and ink. Explore skills such as texture, tone and composition. We all have artistic ability - the only way to find out what kind we have is to 'have a go'.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of this course, students should be able to:

  1. Develop a critical appreciation of artworks.
  2. Creatively express their ideas.
  3. Continue building their drawing skills using various techniques.

MATERIALS LIST

  • Pencils: 2B, 4B, 6B
  • A4 size cartridge paper (or larger)
  • 1 stick of compressed charcoal or black chalk pastel
  • 1 stick of white chalk pastel
  • Stanley knife to sharpen pencils
  • Coloured pencils or chalk pastels or acrylic paints or watercolours.

IMPORTANT: Please arrive to the first class with all the relevant materials. A lack of materials is not just a handicap to you but to the ability to teach. Materials cost is not included in a course fee. In the event of a course being cancelled WEA cannot be held responsible for the purchase of any course materials. We therefore suggest you purchase your materials closer to the time of the course commencing.
