Portuguese Elementary 4 (A2)

This course is a continuation from Portuguese Elementary 3 and is for any student wishing to learn the language for business, travel or everyday use with approximately 140 hours (or equivalent) of Portuguese required. Students will develop skills to use in conversation, reading, listening and writing. This course aims to build higher level comprehension and communication skills in intermediate Italian and a review of cultural practices, with a focus on clear explanation of higher level language principles.

COURSE OUTLINE

  • Expressing oneself in the Imperfect Tense
  • Analysing integration difficulties in a new country or culture
  • Providing information relating to personal and professional details and hobbies, using vocabulary relating to individual characteristics (e.g. physical descriptions, qualities and faults relating to individual character), hobbies, habits in the present and past.
  • Understanding the provision of services
  • Understanding the Portuguese language and culture through audio activities
  • Express an opinion about current affairs
  • Revision: The Imperfect Tense, The Future Indicative
  • The Personal and Impersonal Infinitive
  • The Past Participle

LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of this course, students should be able to:

  1. Understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance.
  2. Communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters.
  3. Describe in simple terms aspects of his/her background, immediate environment and matters in areas of immediate need.
