The course promotes digital confidence and critical thinking, using real-world examples, hands-on activities, and accessible language. No prior tech knowledge is needed. By the end of this course, students should be able to:
- Explain in simple terms what artificial intelligence (AI) is and identify everyday examples of how it is used.
- Recognise the benefits and challenges of AI in areas such as healthcare, communication, safety, and personal convenience.
- Describe how AI systems learn from data and make decisions, using basic examples such as voice assistants or recommendation tools.
- Identify basic privacy and safety risks associated with AI technologies and apply practical strategies to protect their personal information.
- Reflect on the social impact of AI, including issues of fairness, ethics, and its potential role in the future of Australian society.
