Recognised as a country of cultural icons, vast landscapes, and dynamic cities, Argentina is the second-largest country in South America, stretching from the tropical north to the windswept south. Its diverse geography includes the towering Andes mountains, glacial lakes, and the expansive Pampas grasslands, reaching down to the wild beauty of Patagonia. The country captivates with its rich cuisine and world-famous wine- especially Malbec- its turbulent political history, legendary football stars, and endless opportunities for outdoor adventure.

COURSE OUTLINE

  • Brief Introduction: Includes key facts about the country, such as location, population, climate, economy, and history.
  • Culture Icons and Traditions: Discuss the origins and impact of tango, gaucho culture, traditional dishes (asado, empanadas, mate), and aspects of contemporary lifestyle.
  • Highlights of Argentina: Discover some of the country’s most iconic sights and attractions, including Iguazú Falls, Aconcagua, the Mendoza Wine Region, Bariloche and the Lake District, Tierra del Fuego, and Patagonia.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of this course, students should be able to:

  1. Gain a general understanding of Argentina and discover what makes it so different from the rest of the South American countries.
  2. Identify key highlights of the country, including its most frequently visited regions and attractions.
