Continue developing your beginner French fluency and confidence with our Beginner French: A2.6 Course, suitable for learners who have completed our Beginner French: A2.5 Course or have approximately 180 hours of prior study. This course helps you strengthen your communication skills for everyday situations while deepening your understanding of French grammar and vocabulary, making it ideal for learners wanting to learn the French language for travel, work, or personal enrichment in a supportive, interactive learning environment.
You will learn to describe unusual trips and themed weekends, talk about your background and past experiences, express emotions and feelings, and understand or give safety advice and instructions. Grammar and vocabulary are taught in context, covering agreement of the passé composé with être, contrasts between passé composé and imperfect for narrating memories, structures for obligation and prohibition including the present subjunctive, highlighting forms (c’est… qui / que), gender of nouns, and time markers such as il y a, pendant, depuis, and dans. Phonetics is integrated throughout, with focused practice on nasal vowels [ɑ̃] and [ɔ̃], pronunciation differences between passé composé and imperfect, and liaison with [z], [t], and [n] to support clearer, more natural communication in French.

Phonetics

LEARNING OUTCOMES
By the end of this course, students should be able to:
- Communicate effectively about past experiences, emotions, and travel, including describing unusual trips and activities, talking about personal and professional background, understanding and giving safety instructions, planning themed weekends, and expressing feelings and reactions naturally.
- Use key grammatical structures to narrate and highlight past events and obligations, including correct agreement of the passé composé with être, contrasts between passé composé and imperfect, expressions of obligation and prohibition with the present subjunctive, highlighting structures (c’est… qui / que), gender of nouns, and time markers such as il y a, pendant, depuis, and dans.
- Improve pronunciation and expand thematic vocabulary, focusing on nasal vowels [ɑ̃] and [ɔ̃], pronunciation differences between passé composé and imperfect forms, liaison with [z], [t], and [n], and vocabulary related to tourism and unusual activities, emotions and feelings, rules and recommendations, colloquial French, and personal and professional background.
