Intermediate Calligraphy: Exploring Manuscripts

A number of historical manuscripts will be studied, not only for their scripts, but in particular for their decorative elements. Choosing one historical period and focussing particularly on decoration, students will contribute to a class calendar. To join the class, you just need to have learnt any script using a chisel-shaped calligraphy nib.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of this course, students should be able to:

1. Recognise the various scripts relative to an historical period.
2. Understand the significance  of manuscript decoration
3. Combine script and decoration
4. Develop a design ready for printing

Materials cost is not included in a course fee. In the event of a course being cancelled WEA cannot be held responsible for the purchase of any course materials.
