A New World Order - or Disorder?
The United Nations turns 80 today. But this is not the new world we ordered. Instead, there seems to be even greater international chaos. The UN is not meeting our expectations, nationalism and de-globalisation are increasing, the United States is reducing its international commitments, western Europe’s global influence is declining, and China and India are preparing to be the new major international actors. This presentation reviews how much the world has changed in the last 80 years, and speculates on the emerging disorder.
