Linked to the Year of the Horse in the Chinese lunar calendar, this course invites you to learn flowing brush techniques while exploring themes of energy, movement and renewal. Alongside practical painting skills, you’ll gain insight into Chinese cultural traditions and symbolism, creating space for artistic exchange between Eastern and Western perspectives.

  • Brush control and basic calligraphic skills
  • Ink control and interplay with water and brush
  • Yin Yang Opposite rule and 6 Canons of Chinese aesthetic principals
  • Anatomy structure of a horse
  • Drafting with outline from Head to Tail of the horse
  • Ink wash and different ink darkness to depict contour and volume
  • Details on face feature and four limbs in action
  • Inscription and stone seal to finish a piece of painting
