The Mastery course is for artists ready to use Procreate as a fully personal and experimental creative tool, who want to move beyond technique and develop a highly personal, inventive digital practice. Students learn to build complex images and shapes using special effects to create the illusion of three‑dimensional form. This course focuses on combining advanced tools and effects to create complex imagery, three‑dimensional illusion and animation, introducing in‑depth exploration of advanced colour methods and controls. With a strong focus on creative independence, this level equips students to combine skills, develop original workflows and invent their own processes. Mastery empowers you to take full ownership of your digital practice and creative direction.

Please be advised that students will need to bring their own iPad (including charger) and Apple Pencil that they know how to use as well as purchasing and downloading the Procreate app (the cost of Procreate is not included in the course fee).

  • You can use Apple Pencil (1st generation) with these iPad models: iPad mini (5th generation); iPad (6th generation and later); iPad Air (3rd generation); iPad Pro 12.9-inch (1st and 2nd generation); iPad Pro 10.5-inch; iPad Pro 9.7-inch
  • You can use Apple Pencil (2nd generation) with these iPad models: iPad mini (6th generation); iPad Air (4th generation and later); iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd generation and later); iPad Pro 11-inch (1st generation and later)

Building complex images from shapes and layers; Creating depth and form using lighting, texture and effects; Developing three‑dimensional illusion within a 2D environment.

  • Special Effects & Creative Processes

Combining effects creatively to form unique outcomes; Pushing beyond preset tools; Developing repeatable but flexible creative methods; Exploring unconventional uses of Procreate tools.

  • Colour Mastery

Deep exploration of Procreate’s colour tools; Advanced colour harmony and interaction; Building complex colour systems for mood, depth and realism; Refining colour workflows.

  • Animation & Motion

Introduction to animation in Procreate; Creating frame‑by‑frame animations; Understanding timing, movement and visual flow; Exporting animations for different uses.

  • Inventing Personal Workflows

Combining skills to develop individual processes; Adapting techniques to suit personal style; Moving from instructed outcomes to self‑directed creation.
