Deepen your Middle Egyptian skills by tackling more complex verb forms and building translation confidence through short authentic texts.

This course continues the study of Middle Egyptian, building on prior knowledge to deepen reading confidence and understanding. Participants further develop grammar, vocabulary and translation skills while engaging with authentic ancient Egyptian texts. Alongside language study, we explore cultural and historical context to enrich interpretation. Suitable for learners who have completed two terms of Middle Egyptian study at WEA or have equivalent experience and wish to progress their studies.

  • Pseudo-Verbal Constructions
  • Complex Verb Forms
  • Participles and Relative Forms

LEARNING OUTCOMES

  • Negate complex verb forms
  • Read short but complete texts such as historical records or simple literary tales
