Ancient Egyptians imagined the afterlife as a perilous journey through the Duat. This course explores that journey through famous passages and images from the Book of the Dead, following figures such as Ani and Hunefer. We examine beliefs about judgement, morality and immortality, and how funerary texts helped the dead navigate the world beyond. Ideal for those interested in ancient religion, symbolism and Egyptian culture.
